Keep the caring, stop the strain

Hospice teams already bring deep skill to emotionally demanding conversations. But the weight of those interactions — especially with families — can take a lasting toll.

Clean Language is gaining momentum in end-of-life care — for good reason. It helps people find clarity in their own words, without pressure, fixing or emotional overload.

It’s been featured in Nursing Standard (July 2025), written up in BMJ Open Quality by a hospice consultant, and taken up by UK hospice professionals following training through the South West End of Life Network. Many are now using it in practice, with strong feedback and video testimonials from recent pilots and Dying Matters Week tasters.

Unsnap the Advice Trap brings this approach into a short, practice-based training for hospice teams. It’s designed to reduce emotional strain, support clearer conversations, and strengthen follow-through — especially in moments that carry weight.

What staff and volunteers gain

  • Steadier presence in emotionally charged conversations
  • Questions that reduce pressure and increase clarity
  • Support for clearer decisions — without over-helping
  • Stronger follow-through, less emotional strain
  • More focus on, and energy for, what matters most.
